ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Crescent Springs, KY

Roof (13,400 SF), Noll Hall (13,600 SF), Restroom & Elevator Addition (1,600 SF), Sanctuary (5,400 SF)

K4 Architecture + Design led the multi-phase restoration and renovation of St. Joseph Parish, transforming an aging campus into a vibrant, accessible hub for worship, education, and community gatherings. The comprehensive project spanned critical exterior and interior improvements, including roof and foundation repairs, sanctuary restoration, ADA-compliant restroom and elevator addition, and a full renovation of Noll Hall beneath the church.

The sanctuary, reimagined in collaboration with EverGreene and Fynders Keepers, reflects Italian Renaissance influence and now features a new altar containing relics of over 20 saints, hand-painted frescoes, and custom liturgical furnishings, with all new LED lighting and a new sound system. Sanctuary improvements were completed while maintaining active church operations throughout.

Noll Hall - used as a school cafeteria and event space - was fully updated with new finishes, modernized restrooms, sewer lines, and flexible meeting areas created with interior garage doors and multi-functional meeting/lounge spaces.

A new 1,600 SF addition introduced accessible restrooms and an elevator, resolving long-standing ADA challenges and uniting the church and Noll Hall under one roof. Throughout the process, the campus exterior was unified in color and material, highlighted by a new copper roof on the bell tower.

Despite phased construction and material complexity, all school and parish operations remained open, and nearly all work was completed by local teams - demonstrating a strong commitment to both design excellence and community engagement.

This project exemplifies K4’s passion for sacred spaces that elevate spiritual experience while enhancing function, accessibility, and long-term stewardship.
