ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Cincinnati, OH – 30,151 sf

K4 Architecture + Design, in partnership with Fielding International, is proud to support Xavier Jesuit Academy in bringing its mission to life through the renovation of its new home in Bond Hill. Opening August 2024, the academy will be the only Jesuit Catholic elementary school in Cincinnati, serving young men in grades 3–8 with a faith-based, scholarship-funded education.

The project involved a full interior renovation of the former St. Agnes Elementary School, closed since 1993, along with complete mechanical upgrades, a new elevator, and an entry addition shared with the adjoining church. Design goals centered on creating a contemporary learning environment that balances academics, enrichment, and personal development while honoring the integrity of the 100-year-old structure. Challenges included resolving significant water intrusion, integrating accessibility, and working within a tight nine-month schedule to welcome students for the 2024–2025 school year.

The renovation enhances efficiency and comfort with modern HVAC, improved accessibility, and new finishes, while exterior updates complement the historic brick façade and introduce more natural light. With small class sizes and a mission rooted in the Jesuit Nativity model, Xavier Jesuit Academy now has a home designed to inspire growth in body, mind, and spirit.
